Sunrise members receive a Valeyo apprenticeship grant
Sunrise Credit Union has named Jordan McGregor of Waskada and Raegan Ricard of Baldur as recipients of the Valeyo Apprenticeship Scholarship.
McGregor will graduate from Waskada School next month and has maintained his honor roll grades throughout high school. Jordan was active in extracurricular activities, including captaining the high school hockey team and participating in badminton, track and field, and downhill skiing. Additionally, he sits on the student advisory committee, volunteers at community events, helps maintain seniors’ yards, and assists with the Lions Club community field. McGregor also coached the Waskada Breakfast Club for minor hockey players and is known for having a dirt bike trail that enthusiasts enjoyed throughout the area. McGregor plans to enroll in heavy equipment technician pre-employment and attend Olds College this fall.
Ricard will graduate from Prairie Mountain High School next month. Raegan is the student council president, heads the graduate committee, and played many sports in high school. She even started an athletics club during the pandemic and volunteered at the Mariapolis ice rink and fitness center. Ricard has recently gained valuable experience working in a variety of jobs, including as a dietary, laundry and health care aide at Rock Lake Personal Care Home and Prairie View Lodge. She has also held positions as a waitress at a local restaurant, housekeeping in private homes, and working in a seasonal greenhouse. Ricard plans to attend Brandon University this fall and take classes in the pre-professional dentistry program.
