What is the difference between The Retreat, AquaClass and Concierge Class on Celebrity Cruises?

Whether you live the follow-on life on every cruise, or plan to try an elevated cruise experience on your next cruise, Celebrity Cruises offers several ways to enhance your onboard experience.

One way Celebrity sets itself apart from sister cruise line Royal Caribbean is to put more emphasis on its suite offerings, with broad suite privileges on nearly all of its ships.

If you’re trying to figure out what each of the suite programs offers, here’s a look at the differences between The Retreat, AquaClass, and Concierge Class.

The Retreat suite program

If you book a cabin in The Retreat, you get more included with the price you pay.

The Retreat is the name of Celebrity’s version of the ‘ship within a ship’ concept, where suite guests pay extra to get a number of exclusives reserved for them.

The Retreat experience includes:

  • Priority check-in, departure and presentation / boarding at the port
  • Luminae at The Retreat private restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Exclusive lounge access: The Retreat Lounge (or Michael’s Club, on non-revolutionized ships)
  • Exclusive terrace access: The Retreat Sundeck (on Edge Series and Revolutionized Ships)
  • Dedicated butler service
  • Concierge dedicated to pre-cruise retreat
  • Benefits always included
    • Treat yourself to a package at no additional cost.
  • Shore excursion credit
  • Free in-suite dining 24 hours a day, including full breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • High-end bedding and bath products
  • Complimentary welcome bottle of champagne or sparkling wine

The Indulge package includes a premium beverage package, prepaid tips and onboard credit for all cabin passengers, as well as an unlimited stream internet package for the first and second guest. The amount of onboard credit varies depending on the length of the sail: USD 200 per person for 1-5 night crossings, USD 300 per person for 6-9 night crossings, and USD 400 per person for 10-night crossings or more.

If you opt for a Concierge course room, the services are slightly different.

  • Personalized concierge services
  • Boarding day lounge
  • Priority boarding and early disembarkation
  • Shoe shine service
  • Free beach towel service
  • Binoculars included (for on-board use only)
  • 24 hour room service (additional cost between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.)
  • Exclusive lunch on the day of embarkation
  • Pillow menu
  • Daily canapes

The other factor in choosing between the Concierge class and the Aqua class is that many frequent cruisers say that the Concierge rooms have a more desirable location for their cabin on the ship compared to the Aqua class.

Ultimately, the decision can come down to whether you want additional spa perks and want to dine in a private restaurant instead of the main dining room (Aqua class), or if you’d rather get a better cabin location. and other additional benefits (concierge class).

Other important information

  • Retreat, Aqua and Concierge guests may, depending on routes, schedules, etc., be invited to special boating events.
  • The Retreat, Aqua, and Concierge cabins have a dedicated team of cabin attendants who review a smaller number of rooms to provide enhanced services.
